House GOP Considers Separating CHIP From Medicare Extenders

House Republicans are considering reauthorizing the Children’s Health Insurance Program separately from extensions of Medicare programs and policies, which would take away a key vehicle for those so-called Medicare extenders. A core group of provider organizations is trying to spark a lobbying effort to reauthorize CHIP and the extenders at the same time, but state governors, and soon about 1,000 kid-advocate groups, are pressuring Congress to reauthorize CHIP funding amid a crammed legislative schedule and with federal funding running out...
