Former FDA Head Submits Citizen Petition On Refined Carbohydrates

Former FDA Commissioner David Kessler submitted a citizen petition calling on FDA to limit refined carbohydrates used in industrial food processing to prevent obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and requested six actions for the agency to take, including revoking the “generally recognized as safe” designations of refined carbohydrates.
