Administration Requires Plans Report Drug Spending, But Delays Enforcement

The Biden administration issued a rule Wednesday requiring health plans and issuers, including those offering group or individual coverage and coverage to federal employees, report prescription drug spending and key health coverage information, but it won’t enforce the rule until after Dec. 27, 2022. The administration will use the information to report on drug pricing trends and rebates, and their impact on premiums and consumers’ out-of-pocket costs.
