Employers Open To Public Option, Rate-Setting As Prices Increase

Large employers continue to telegraph their frustration with drug and hospital prices in yet another report that shows an openness to price controls and government interventions that would have been anathema in previous years. One-third of the employers responding to recent National Alliance of Health Care Purchasers survey believe a Medicare-like public option would be helpful to their health benefit strategies and almost three-quarters say hospital rate setting should be on the table.
