The Biden administration is laying plans to permanently extend pandemic flexibilities that have allowed for telehealth prescribing and for longer at-home use of controlled substance medications used to treat substance use disorders. The newly published Spring 2022 agenda reveals that proposed rules extending pandemic prescribing flexibilities are in the works by both the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
