Califf Seeks Insurers’ Help On Gene Therapy Trials Amidst Funding Challenges

FDA Commissioner Robert Califf is requesting help from commercial insurers to collect gene therapy evidence and boost participation in clinical trials. He says the agency needs help to advance gene therapy science as well as with other agency priorities this year such as food safety, regulation of artificial intelligence and combatting health misinformation.
