HHS Could Face Dilemma With Auto-Renewal On Short-Term Plans

HHS is seeking comment on renewal processes for their just-released proposed rule on short-term health plans, and experts say that if the agency moves toward auto-enrollment in the plans this could lead to litigation. The proposed plan, which reverses an Obama-era rule that limited short-term plans to three months, would let individuals purchase health insurance plans that do not meet the Affordable Care Act's requirements for a period of 364 days.
