A new report from the Urban Institute took a deep dive into how five communities dealt with the increase of insured residents after the Affordable Care Act passed, and found regions were generally able to build capacity using similar solutions: hiring more physicians, administrative and information technology staff, bringing in more advanced practitioners, opening more urgent care and retail clinics, extending office hours, and using telehealth.
