TX Surprise Billing Law Goes Into Effect Without Changes From Providers

A Texas surprise billing law went into effect on Jan. 1 without an exception for most non-emergency cases that was sought by a group of hospitals and providers. Texas state lawmakers in May approved legislation to tackle surprise medical bills that relies on an arbitration process for insurers and providers to settle disputes.
