An original study published April 3 in JAMA Network found that facilitated telehealth treatment through opioid treatment programs for hepatitis C resulted in dramatically higher cure rates than for patients referred off-site for treatment. Facilitated telemedicine for hepatitis C treatment produced better outcomes than standard-of-care off-site referral to hepatitis specialists, the new study found, because it “mitigated geographic and temporal barriers” to treatment.
