Senate Fails To Pass Either Party’s CR As Shutdown Blame Game Over Expiring APTCs Continues

Despite failing to pass the House-passed GOP continuing resolution (CR) nor Democrats’ alternative short-term funding bill and party leaders being no closer to an agreement, the Senate adjourned for a week-long recess on Friday (Sept. 19), setting up a high-stakes game of political chicken when they return over whether to include an extension of the expiring enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits in the CR before government funding expires at the end of the month.
