Pharma Companies Launch Initiative To Push For E-Labeling

Seven major drug companies have launched an initiative to seek regulatory and legislative reforms that allow for expanded electronic drug labeling. The initiative, the Alliance to Modernize Prescribing Information (AMPI), comprises Abbvie, AmerisourceBergen, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Mylan, Pfizer and Teva. AMPI asserts the current paper-dependent method for labeling and prescribing information is outdated and not compatible with the technological flow of patient safety information.
