FDA Commissioner Marty Makary touted the benefits of using electronic health records (EHRs) for both premarket research and postmarket surveillance, saying at a conference Monday (June 17) the records could be used for patient matching and to immediately monitor drugs when they hit the market, potentially allowing for faster approvals with lower initial evidence thresholds.
