Lawmakers Eye Permanent Fix To Critical Access Hospital Supervision Requirements

The Senate recently passed a short-term extension of a moratorium on the requirement that supervising physicians be physically present in critical access and small rural hospitals at all times when Medicare beneficiaries receive outpatient services, and one rural hospital lobbyist hopes a permanent fix will be included in broader hospital legislation being worked on by the House Ways & Means Committee.
