Insurers Urge Administration To Keep Short-Term Plans' 90-Day Limit, Set 2020 Effective Date

Insurance groups and issuers are largely united in their opposition to the Trump administration’s proposal to increase the duration of short-term plans and encourage CMS to change its proposed rule so as to curtail the growth of such plans. Suggested changes to the rule include limiting the duration of the plans to less than the Trump administration’s suggested 364-day limit, strengthening disclosure requirements, limiting short-term plan renewability and preventing the plans from going into effect until 2020.
