House, Senate Dems Reintroduce Food Labeling Modernization Bill

A bicameral group of Democratic lawmakers on Wednesday (Aug. 4) reintroduced legislation that would require FDA create a single, standard front-of-package label for food products, establish guidelines for use of the term “healthy” and build on its work to update standards of identity for certain foods. The bill also addresses consumers’ need for nutrition information when shopping for food online, coming as FDA weighs how to adjust product labeling guidelines for online grocers.
