House Approves Bills On IMD Exclusion, Substance Abuse Privacy

The House of Representatives voted Wednesday (June 20) to allow Medicaid to pay for some substance abuse treatment in large inpatient facilities and to ease privacy restrictions for medical records containing information about substance abuse. The two bills have been the most controversial measures in the House’s effort to pass legislation aimed at ameliorating the opioid crisis, but both passed the full chamber easily.
