Grassley, McCain To HHS: Allow Case-By-Case Drug Imports From Canada

Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and John McCain (R-AZ) are pressing HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell to allow pharmacists, wholesale retailers and individuals to import cheaper Canadian versions of certain high-priced U.S. drugs. The lawmakers note that FDA has the authority to allow such imports of cheaper drugs as long as the HHS Secretary certifies them as safe, in a letter to Burwell sent Friday (Nov. 20).
