Dems Face Competing Pressure From AFGE, Health Stakeholders As Shutdown Continues

As the government shutdown drags on, Democrats in Congress are facing a dilemma: The American Federation of Government Employees is now asking Democrats to agree to a clean continuing resolution to resume funding, with health policy details to be worked out later, but many Democratic lawmakers and key stakeholders remain uncomfortable with the prospect of a funding agreement that neither seals a deal on the soon-to-expire enhanced Obamacare subsidies nor reverses the Trump administration’s layoffs of hundreds of workers at CDC and other agencies.
