Dem AGs Ask Azar To Halt Rule On Separate Billing For Abortions

Democratic attorneys general are asking HHS to put a new rule that requires plans to bill non-Hyde abortion services separately on ice while stakeholders deal with the ongoing pandemic. The separate billing requirement came as part of the Program Integrity rule finalized in December that has already resulted in two lawsuits. The Trump administration argues the requirement reflects Congress’ intent that no federal funds go toward abortion services not allowable under Hyde.
