CMS Starts Process To Rescind Work Requirements, Gives States 30 Days To Defend Demos

CMS took initial steps to roll back states’ Medicaid work requirements on Friday (Feb. 12), telling states, including Arkansas and New Hampshire, it doesn’t believe their programs promote Medicaid objectives and giving them 30 days to send information on why they disagree. The agency also sent letters to various states rolling back additional protections for 1115 demonstrations that former CMS Administrator Seema Verma had put in place shortly before she left the agency.
