CMS Clarifies Rules To Let Urban Hospitals Reclassify For Rural Benefits

CMS issued an interim final rule Tuesday (April 27) that would let urban hospitals be treated as rural hospitals throughout the entire process of seeking a higher Medicare wage reimbursement rate. The interim final rule with a comment period goes into effect May 10, and it is the latest policy change as a result of hospitals suing HHS over their rights to Medicare benefits when reclassifying through the Medicare Geographic Classification Review Board.
