BMA Analysis: Out-Of-Pocket Costs Lower for MA Than Fee-For-Service

Medicare Advantage beneficiaries spent an average of $1,640 less on out-of-pocket and premium costs than traditional Medicare beneficiaries in 2018, according to a new study released by pro-MA coalition Better Medicare Alliance Tuesday (March 30). This is the third consecutive year of data showing savings for MA beneficiaries compared to those in fee-for-service Medicare, with savings increasing $42 dollars between 2017 and 2018.
