AHA: OIG's Hospital Audits 'Fundamentally Flawed,' CMS Should Step In

The American Hospital Association says the HHS Office of Inspector General's hospital compliance reviews regularly have “fundamental flaws and inaccuracies” that lead to overstated repayment demands and more hospital appeals, and the hospital lobby is asking CMS not to simply accept the OIG's audits or extrapolate the finding to a wider group of claims until after hospital appeals are complete.
