Hospital-Acquired Conditions Dropped 8 Percent Over Two-Year Period

Hospital-acquired conditions declined by 8 percent from 2014 to 2016, according to data released Tuesday (June 5) by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and CMS reiterated its goal of a 20 percent decrease through 2019. CMS touted its efforts to improve patient safety through Hospital Improvement Innovation Networks (HIINs), which receive grants to expand inpatient safety measures.
