FTC Sues Daraprim Maker; Alleges ‘Elaborate Anticompetitive Scheme’

The Federal Trade Commission is suing Vyera Pharmaceuticals and former CEO Martin Shkreli for allegedly creating an elaborate anticompetitive scheme to preserve a monopoly on Daraprim after jacking up the price of the parasitic infection drug by 4,000%. The FTC complaint alleges Shkreli was directly responsible for orchestrating the anticompetitive scheme, as well as Phoenixus AG, Vyera’s parent company.
