Democrats Threaten Govt. Shutdown If Poison Pill Riders In Approps Bills

Senate Democrat leaders warned Senate Republican leaders they would force a government shutdown if poison pill riders, such prohibiting funds for critical healthcare services for women through Planned Parenthood, are included in upcoming appropriations bills. The warning came on the heels of House agriculture subcommittee chair Robert Aderholt (R-AL) telling lawmakers they have until April 5 to submit line-item requests for the fiscal 2018 appropriations bill.
