California Legislature Passes Bill Allowing State-Made Generic Drugs

The California state legislature on Monday (Aug. 31) passed a bill to lower prescription drug costs by allowing the state to develop its own line of generic drugs, including biosimilars of insulin. If signed by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, California would be the first state to directly compete with major pharmaceutical companies.
