Flawed Methodology Could Lead to Payment Cuts for New Outpatient Technologies;

Final Rule Must Build on Progress Made in 2002 to Provide Adequate Reimbursement

WASHINGTON, D.C. AdvaMed, the Advanced Medical Technology Association, today stated that it intends to work with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to address excessive cuts for some new technologies outlined in the agency's proposed outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS) rule published August 7 in the Federal Register.

A panel of experts convened by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) today (Aug. 7) released a report offering solutions for alleviating the national nursing shortage.
