Pfizer applied Thursday (June 30) for FDA approval of its oral coronavirus antiviral Paxlovid for use in patients at high-risk of severe illness, regardless of vaccination status -- a request that if granted would let Pfizer start advertising the drug and sell it on the private market. Paxlovid is currently authorized for emergency use so only the federal government can buy it.
