FDA Panel Backs J&J COVID-19 Booster, Says It Should Be 2-Dose Vaccine

All 19 members of FDA’s vaccine advisory committee on Friday (Oct. 15) agreed the agency should authorize a booster dose of Johnson & Johnson’s one-shot COVID-19 vaccine for people ages 18 and up at least two months after they receive the first dose, despite concerns that there aren’t enough data showing the extra shot is necessary and that FDA did not independently verify the data that were provided by J&J ahead of the advisory committee meeting.
