CMS Bumps Inpatient Rehab Pay 2.4%, Lifts Pre-Admission Requirements

CMS on Tuesday (Aug. 4) finalized its fiscal 2021 inpatient rehabilitation facility prospective pay rule that will lift requirements on post-admission evaluations and expand the services non-physician practitioners can provide. The final rule lifts the requirement that physicians do an evaluation within the first 24 hours of a patient’s admission to an IRF since CMS says that evaluation would contain the same information collected in a pre-admission visit.
