Senate Votes Against GOP Bill To Permanently Ban Abortion Coverage

The Senate on Thursday (Jan. 17) voted against proceeding with a GOP measure to codify the Hyde amendment to permanently ban federal funding for abortions. The vote comes on the eve of the nation’s largest anti-abortion event, the March for Life in Washington D.C., and a few days after the House pro-choice caucus said they hoped to get rid of the Hyde amendment entirely.
