Study: Interstate Telehealth Used Primarily By Patients With Existing Physician Relationships

Telehealth practiced across state lines is overwhelmingly used to provide continued care to patients that already have a relationship with the physician and occurs mostly between neighboring states, according to a new study from the University of Michigan. The study is the first to quantify the use of telehealth across state lines as stakeholders are divided on whether to pursue a federal licensure system for telehealth providers.
