Senate Commerce Advances ACP Funding In Broadband Bill

The Senate Commerce Committee on Wednesday (July 31) advanced $7 billion in funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program as an amendment in a larger broadband bill despite objections from Republicans on offsets. The committee also passed a separate bill that would require the Federal Communications Commission to establish a vetting process for internet service providers applying for high-cost subsidies.
