Nurse Convicted In Telefraud Scheme, HHS OIG Promises Scrutiny

A Georgia nurse practitioner who participated in a complex telemedicine kickback scheme has been sentenced to prison and ordered to pay more than $1.6 million in restitution, coming just weeks after the HHS Office of Inspector General issued a special fraud alert warning of such schemes.
