The Federal Trade Commission asks for advice on how to beef up its oversight of privacy breaches in an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking unveiled Thursday (Aug. 11) that seeks to safeguard sensitive user data, including data collected by health apps and wearable technology, and allow the agency to financially penalize companies on their first regulation violation.
