FSMB Approves New Policy On Telemedicine

The Federation of State Medical Boards has updated its eight-year-old guidance on telemedicine to include more information of standards of care, licensure and disclosures physicians should make to their patients. Telehealth stakeholders view the update as a good first step, even though FSMB rejected their calls to expand the use of audio-only visits and add asynchronous communications to the boards’ definition of telehealth.
