States Use Managed Care Contracts To Carve Out Rx, Ban Spread Pricing

Some states have started using managed care contracts to remove drug benefits from managed care programs and ban the pharmacy benefit manager practice of spread pricing, and National Academy for State Health Policy Executive Director Trish Riley said she expects the trend toward greater drug-channel scrutiny to strengthen once her organization issues a model contract for states, probably next month.
