Insurers Recommend CMS Expand Copay Accumulators To All Drugs

Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and America’s Health Insurance Plans are urging CMS to update its copay accumulators policy to let exchange plans exclude drug makers’ copay coupons from counting toward enrollees’ out-of-pocket maximums for all drugs, not just for drugs where generic equivalents are available. The insurers also request CMS make it easier to track drug manufacturers’ and pharmacies’ use of financial assistance, such as co-pay coupons.
