Class Action Lawsuit Challenges DIR Fees Imposed By OptumRx

UnitedHealth Group’s pharmacy benefit manager OptumRx faces a new class action suit over its assessment of direct-or-indirect remuneration (DIR) fees on an independent pharmacy, which the pharmacy alleges violates federal antitrust laws and is a breach of the contract the PBM holds with the pharmacy. The class action suit was filed Monday (Dec. 18) in a federal court in Washington by Osterhaus Pharmacy of Maquoketa, IA.
