A senior administration official on Thursday (July 30) implied that the $19.95 per dose price that HHS committed to pay Pfizer for its coronavirus vaccine candidate is higher than what other companies would get because Pfizer paid its own development costs, would handle much of the distribution and will be paid only if the vaccine works.
