CMS Finalizes Rule Allowing More State EHB Options Starting In 2020

CMS on Monday finalized a controversial proposal to give states more flexibility in choosing their essential health benefits (EHB) package by choosing from 50 EHB-benchmark plans that were used by any state for the 2017 plan year, choosing from any of the 10 EHB categories used in any state plan, or otherwise crafting an EHB-plan that is equal to or greater than the scope of benefits provided by the typical employer plan in a state.
