CMS Extends Transitional Insurance Policies Through Dec. 31, 2019

CMS on Monday announced the agency has extended the so-called "transitional" insurance plan policy and will allow certain issuers to sell individual or small group policies that are not complaint with certain Affordable Care Act consumer protections through Dec. 31, 2019. The non-complaint plans, which the Obama administration initially allowed to remain on the market following an outcry over plan cancellations in 2013, would have otherwise been phased out at the end of this year.
