FDA Announces Cyber Playbook, MOUs With Device Stakeholders

FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb announced three new initiatives aimed at increasing cybersecurity preparedness and information-sharing among medical device stakeholders, particularly among health care delivery organizations (HDOs) such as hospitals. The initiatives include a cybersecurity playbook for HDOs and two memoranda of understanding (MOUs) which create cybersecurity information sharing groups. The aim of the initiatives, Gottlieb said, is to encourage proactive activity among device stakeholders in the cybersecurity space.
