Verma: CMS Considering 90% Match Rate For Partial Medicaid Expansion

CMS is considering whether to allow states that partially expand Medicaid to receive the enhanced federal funding historically reserved for full Medicaid expansion, CMS Administrator Seema Verma said Wednesday (May 8). Such a move would clash with the Obama administration’s stance that providing enhanced funding for partial expansions is illegal. “That’s still under consideration.
