Some states are using lottery-like systems to allocate remdesivir to hospitals as an ethical way to ration supplies of the only drug shown to help treat COVID-19, according to interviews with several state health officials. FDA on May 1 signed an emergency use authorization that lets doctors use Gilead’s remdesivir to treat COVID-19.
