Stakeholders Ask Senate To Change Surprise Billing Fix’s Payment Rate

Stakeholders supporting both independent arbitration or a set benchmark payment rate as a fix for surprise medical bills are encouraging the Senate health committee to change its proposed payment standard in order to prevent providers and physicians from losing money. The stakeholders want to see the committee change its surprise billing fix from the median in-network rate for that geographic area to a standard more closely reflecting New York state’s surprise billing legislation.
