Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE) is working on legislation to extend a waiver of the so-called Medicare 96-hour rule for critical access hospitals, which came to an end when the COVID-19 public health emergency expired midnight May 11, coming as Smith and others say a wider pandemic waiver extension package could include policies ranging from permanent Medicare telehealth, temporary nursing assistant training waivers, ending the Medicare three-day inpatient stay requirement for nursing home care to pharmacist-administered vaccines and COVID-19 testing flexibility...
