Senate Democrats To Force Vote On Elimination Of Short-Term Plans

A group of top Senate Democrats announced Thursday (Aug. 2) they will soon introduce legislation in accordance with the Congressional Review Act to overturn the Trump administration’s newly finalized rule expanding the scope of short-term, limited-duration health plans. The Democrats, led by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), argue the short-term plans will hurt consumers and are “junk insurance” since they do not mandate coverage for preexisting conditions or essential health benefits.
